CCAN NGOs provide recommendations for China’s new climate change legislation

In March 2011 it was announced that the Chinese government was going to launch an open process for a new piece of climate change legislation – a national Climate Change Law. The first stage of public opinion collection ended in September 2011. The NGOs from CCAN decided to take this unique opportunity and prepare a submission. Several workshops were held to review the existing environmental laws and define an expectation of NGOs for the Climate Change Law.

CCAN, CDM-Watch & GAIA hold China NGO CDM workshop on public participation and waste incineration

 

On the 1st October, in preparation for the Tianjin UN climate change conference, CCAN in cooperation with the NGOs CDM-Watch and GAIA (Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives) held a workshop in Beijing on the current status of CDM in China. Almost 30 representatives from Chinese grassroots NGOs and universities participated in the workshop. Several issues relating to CDM in China were presented and discussed.

全球气候正在变暖又添力证:美国国家海洋及大气管理局(NOAA)7月28日公布的一份报告指出,根据全球十大气象衡量指标,地球在这50年间变得愈来愈热,尤以近10年为甚。报告指出,自1980年起,每个十年的气温都较上个十年平均上升0.2华氏度,如此地球温度50年来上升了1华氏度(0.56摄氏度)。专家称,乍看升幅细微,但已足令冰川和海冰持续融化,豪雨频密,热浪迭至。
